- MRI is increasingly being used to image global pelvic floor dynamics and may be a convenient and viable alternative to cystoproctography in some instances.
- Dynamic pelvic MRI is especially useful for imaging cystocoele and gynaecological prolapse, which can be simply and rapidly achieved.
- More detailed examinations are possible but there is a corresponding increase in complexity, for example, needing evacuation within the magnet bore.
- There seems little doubt that dynamic pelvic MRI has considerable diagnostic impact.
- Clinical results are promising but there is a clear and present need for surgical studies that explore both anatomical and functional outcomes.
