Ultrasound of groin injury
P Robinson, MRCP, FRCR
St James University Hospital, Beckett Street, Leeds LS9 7TF, UK
Ultrasound allows dynamic assessment of inguinofemoral hernias.
The accuracy of ultrasound for detecting hernias is yet to
be
established.
In the patient with equivocal features, ultrasound
can also
evaluate surrounding muscles and joints.
In athletes
with groin pain ultrasound is a good first line
imaging tool,
but MRI may be necessary in specific conditions.
