Stent-grafting for thoracic and abdominal aneurysms: imaging, assessment and follow-up

• Multislice CT with contrast offers the best single pre-intervention assessment.
  
• Indications for intervention are thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) >6 cm or abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) >5.5 cm.
  
• Approximately 50% of AAA are unsuitable for endovascular repair due to unfavourable anatomy.
  
• Endoleaks are more common post AAA endovascular repair and increase the risk of aneurysm rupture.
  
• Lifelong follow up post endovascular repair with plain films and CT is required.
